Very close to major subway stops making it easy to get to and from the airport. Located in very busy portion of Madrid, very Times Squarish. Made food and shopping pretty easy. For 50 euro a night, it's a decent place if you don't mind not having all of the amenities.
You have to check in on the 2nd floor then go to the floor of your room. Since it's a hostal, you must drop you keys on the 2nd floor each time you leave and stop there again to pick them up. We were on the 6th floor so this was a bit obnoxious. Be sure not to forget things before you drop off your keys. :) The walls are paper thin. I could hear everything the guests in the next room were doing in the bathroom. Everything. I'm sure they could hear us too.
Location was great and they gave us a really nice room overlooking the grand via. It was incredibly clean.
The reception is on the 2nd floor, but most of the rooms are on different floors across the building, which is annoying if you have to go up and down a lot. We had to go back to reception each time and drop off the key on our way out.
Great location, right on Gran Via street and the subway station. The room is comfortable and very clean. The bathroom is a bit small (with bath tub though). Price is also very affordable and good, given the location. All major sightseeing sites in the city are pretty much within walking distance (some may walk longer, i.e. 30-40mins). Our room is facing inside (you have to request in advance) so it's also quiet during the evening. Many restaurants near-by, especially toward the direction to the Sun Plaza (The Sol). You can also buy bottled water at the reception, the price is very fair compared to stores outside.
We're pretty happy with everything except a few minor ones: 1. safety box: there is a safety box in the room but it takes 1euro per use so we didn't use it. 2. cannot find supermarket nearby the hotel: the one hotel told us is always closed...maybe we go there during their afternoon rest time.
Very good location, close to metro station Gran Via. Friendly staff. Good cleaning each day of the stay. Large room. Acceptable Internet speed.
I would like to have a higher table in the room where I could put my pc while writing on it.
A central location and a handy 24 hour reception. Perfect for a long weekend with late nights.
Parking not available and nearby parking was expensive
Location is great, but noisy was quite loud, since it locates at Granvia street. Especially for night, I could here all silen and people shouting.
I really liked the situation of the hostal and the price as well. Didn't except it to be so awesome but it was very nice and I really recommend it!
The location is great, close to the pedestrian city central
Great location, right in the middle of Gran Via. Nice breakfast.
No ac, so it's very bad in hot days during Summer.
Cheep The centre of the city
Location is great, right on the Gran Via and walking distance to all the sights.
Room was on the Gran Via and very noisy at night. Recommend travelers ask for a room on the quiet side of the hotel. Breakfast was unimpressive -- consisted of packaged bread items.
Hostal Pereda was in an excellent location. Your basically close to everything includint a metro station right in front of the hotel. The train station is about 10 min in metro super close. The staff from the morning was excellent. Jose helped us a lot. Also I really enjoyed that the Hostal was very clean. Although the elevator(lift) was a bit small it still helped us with the luggage. There's also plenty of hot water which I enjoyed. Over all is a great Hostal if you want to save money and be in a great location.
One thing I didnt like was that the wifi could only be used in the lobby. And only up to 11 pm which was a bit of a hassle for me since it was still early in my country to try and communicate with my family. Also I didnt like the receptionist from the evening we tried to get him to help us with directions and such things and really wasnt much of a help. Also the comfort of the bed was not the best one it was quite uncomfortable and the shower was quite small. Also if your a light sleeper dont recommend for you to stay here. Since is in a center location it is very noisy all the time. Although for me it wasnt a big problem.
The location was great about 50 m from the Gran via metro stop. The facility had been renovated -the room was on the street with a balcony and pergo floors. It was spacious. Problems minimal hot water. The shower was a joke -it took forever to get a trickle of hot water. After you soaped yourself down there was little hot water to rinse yourself off. The bed was ok. Street rooms tended to be noisy on the Gran Via and the windows were old and didnt block out the street noise. The breakfast was horrible. Orange juice was completely synthetic and all the products were packaged in plastic. No butter -margarine and one package of marmalade. It was a joke. I think that they need to get an idea of what constitutes a breakfast.
Room spacious but noisy if you are on the street. No hot water most of the time Breakfast was bad
Next to the city center, and Metro
We could hear our neighbours having shower... The walls were too thin... :(
